I went out to Lake Crabtree to do my part for the Great Backyard Bird Count, but sheee-yit. I managed half an hour, and then packed in--the hard-won hardiness from my decade in Minnesota has long since melted away, and now I am the depths of wuss. Nothing real exciting, just a bunch of Canadian geese and starlings and gulls, and a few odds and ends, but even these are statistically important, I suppose, so I am content.
I am much more content because when I got out of my car in the driveway, and looked up, there, like an animate bit of bark, the yellow-bellied sapsucker was scooting around a tree. So that makes me feel warm 'n fuzzy.
