Well, I posted the strawberry painting and went to work. I came home to an inbox with nine people asking after it, and a friend on voice mail going "Want strawberry!"

I feel like I'm living on E-bay lately, but no help for it, I guess--I hate making arbitrary "Okay, you!" calls, so the Feral Strawberry is goin' to auction.*

And, um, have I mentioned lately how much I love you all? I mean, jeez, I am one lucky artist to have you guys all so interested in my art. It's not just the buying (although the buying pays the bills!) but every time a painting goes up somewhere, or Digger gets a mention, or whatever, I've got people letting me know, and posting links and pimpin' my art every which way, and letting me know about contests and sending me really cool stuff and...jeez. (I got a Digger pony the other day. A Digger pony! How cool izzat? She and Squash Pony can hang out together...)

I feel loved. And grateful. And sort of stupidly lucky. *sniffle*

Anyway! Okay, enough mush, time for a retreat to cold hard capitalism before I get all choked up.

Feral Strawberry Auction

*grin* I can't forget--my DeviantArt account gets a "LOL WUT" comment on it about once a day...

"And, um, have I mentioned lately how much I love you all?"

And it's totally a mutual feeling I assure you. If I'm having a bad day- I just check out ursulav's gallery. It's like chocolate milk- it makes everything better

I do the same! Ursula, your art is like visual anti-depressants without the horrible, horrible side effects.

And now I wish I hadn't deleted my Little Creature icon.

(I got a Digger pony the other day. A Digger pony! How cool izzat? She and Squash Pony can hang out together...)

I demand pictures!

Oooh, yes, pictures! ^_^ Pwese?

(If you do, I'll promise never to spell 'please' with a 'w' ever, ever agin. ^^')

I have limited wall space. And most of it is already covered with prints (your prints!). Miniature anything is appealing to me!

Oh, MAN - I LOVE that Strawberry with the blazing heat of a thousand Greenhouse suns....er, that is (ahem)...I think it's way cool.

My family raised & sold strawberries when I was a kid, so much so that my fingers were red ALL SUMMER every summer...and I remember being awakened at oh-dark-thirty by my Mom yelling, "it's a Frost - we've got to cover the strawberries!" and we'd run down to the garden with burlap sacks in our hands to cover them. Good Memories - and I told my husband we ought to buy the strawberry for my Mom.

She wouldn't understand it, of course...but I would! ;)

Auction? What auction? Nothing to see on eBay, move along...

Being deathly allergic to raw fruits and vegetables, I really like this painting. I took one look at it and thought "See, that's what strawberries look like to me... Tasty, but deadly!"

Guess I should bid! :)

I think I'm one of the slackers in your fan community - I've only pimped you out to my roommate, the girls who live upstairs from us, my parents, and my boyfriend and his parents. :/

And I totally second those who look at your galleries after a bad day.

I'm just sorry I didn't see the Feral Strawberry until a dozen other people had spoken up for it.

Ever since my own children were tiny (going on 20 yrs now)... my favourite poem has always been:

"Wild Strawberries

Are Wild Strawberries really wild?
Will they scratch an adult, will they snap at a child?
Should you pet them, or let them run free where they roam?
Could they ever relax in a steam-heated home?
Can they be trained not to growl at the guests?
Will a litterbox work or would they leave a mess?
Can we make them a Cowberry, herding the cows,
Or maybe a Muleberry, pulling the plows,
Or maybe a Huntberry chasing the grouse,
Or maybe a Watchberry guarding the house,
And though they may curl up at your feet oh so sweetly,
Can you ever feel that you trust them completely?
Or should we make a pet out of something less scary,
Like the Domestic Prune or the Imported Cherry,
Anyhow, you've been warned and I will not be blamed
If your Wild Strawberry cannot be tamed."

Hey... you're a damned fine artist who is genuinely talented in a great many ways. If you didn't also seem to be such a really nice person, I'd be horribly jealous.

It's nice to be nice to the nice. :>

oh my god! that just rocks. :)

Of course we love you. You have cool, weird crazy thoughts... and the ability to paint them! Yet you're still a pretty normal person if your postings here are any indication. (If they're all lies, then you're still a damn good fiction writer.) On, that note, you also write cool fantasy with all of the inconvenient possibilities that other authors like to ignore. I'm not usually a 'fan' of anyone much... but I might be a total simpering geek if I ever see you at a con or something. Ok, I will run off in shame and go work on my aardvark now.

Alas! Out of my reach already. May have to content myself with a print. Waiting with anticipation for more fruit :)

Ursula, my dear, I think your *art* is of interest to people. :)

Also, I find watching your auctions to be absolutely fascinating. I don't know why, but I check back about twice a day to see what things are going for. It makes me all like, "Yay Ursula!" :)

I fear I do the same thing re: ursula auctions. Possibly because it's proof that people do in fact purchase art for those prices. It gives us other starving artists hope.

Dear, we wouldn't be so interested in your work if it wasn't so damn awesome :). You're doing all the work here :P.
